Strep

As it turns out, that pesky sore throat I’ve had for the last 2 days is actually just yet another case of strep. Awesome. I told the nurse I’ve had strep at least 10-12 times in my life and she looked at me quite shocked. When the doctor came in she took a look at me and said “given your history, your symptoms, and what I saw when I looked in your mouth, I’m not even going to bother with a throat culture. I’m putting you on antibiotics.”

I can honestly say that was the quickest diagnosis I’ve ever received, and I’m all about quick and efficient! Not to mention the throat culture isn’t exactly fun. She also commented on the size of my tonsils and suggested I contact my regular doctor to discuss that, since I get strep so often. That’s a little scary for sure. Either way, I got my antibiotics and some pain medicine so I’m set. Seriously, it was hurting to swallow my own saliva. Liquid vicodin here I come! lolĀ

For real though, I’m thankful my job gives me so much sick time. I kinda feel like I’ve used a lot lately. Maybe it’s just stress attacking my immune system. Whatever, I get the day off tomorrow so I don’t infect all of my coworkers. I’m down with that!

And to all of the people I exposed today at the birthday party, I offer you my sincerest apologies. I’ll bring you throat lozenges if you get it :)

Pain

I woke up this morning expecting to be just a bit tired. After all, I did go to bed SUPER late last night. Instead, I woke up exhaused and in a lot of pain. In addition to the roof of my mouth being on fire (I managed to burn the crap out of it on some delicious pizza last night. Was it worth it? Definitely!), my hip joint is also definitely out of wack. I was born with bilateral hip dysplasia, and have had some lingering hip issues as a result. My physical therapist said my hip doesn’t glide right, which is why it sometimes gets “stuck” out of place. Awesome. So basically, while I was sleeping last night I somehow managed to get my hip out of wack. Yes…I partially dislocated my hip in my sleep. I was able to kinda pop it back into place, but it hurts like hell. Sitting at my desk isn’t really making matters any easier. I’m not sure what to do at this point, as I have no time to see the doctor. So I guess I’ll just keep sitting here and tough it out :( It’s not a good way to start the day.

Jury Duty!

I’m 100% stoked on life – yesterday I visited the mailbox and found a summons for jury duty! I don’t go for a few weeks, but I really hope they pick me. Of course I’m probably jinxing myself by posting this, but I’ve never been on a jury before and I think it would be such an interesting experience. I’ve been called twice, and the farthest I’ve ever made it was into the court room, only for the jury box to fill up before I got a chance to “interview”. Sadness.

I’ll take any case, 1 day-2 months. I mean, this shit can’t interfere with The Trip after all :)

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Ick

I was just reminded why I don’t wear thongs/g-strings to the gym: it’s a sure-fire way to end up with some camel toe. Ick! :(

Swiffer

I’m in love with the Swiffer line of products. I did a thorough cleaning of my apartment yesterday and tried for the first time the wet cloths and the swiffer duster. It was amazing. My place is dust free, it saved me a TON of time, and thanks to the scented wet floor wipes, my apartment smells like a tangerine. It’s great. And certainly a lot better than the smell of 409 or just bleach in general. (Yes, I use bleach. Only on my bathtub. It’s the one thing I can’t give up!)

So anyway, clean apartment, yummy scent, only an hour of my time. What a great discovery!

Teenage Pregnancy

Ah yes, Bristol Palin and her babby daddy have broken up. But really, is anyone surprised? It’s hard work raising a kid, and when you’re 18 it’s definitely a lot more difficult. It really is a shame that so many parts of the country actually still teach abstinence-only sex ed. Really, how are kids supposed to learn about birth control and general reproductive health issues if all they’re ever taught is “don’t do it until you’re married”. That’s definitely not helpful. I get that accidents happen, but so many of them could be avoided with a little education. No one ever got hurt by learning!

Anyway, that’s it for my Thursday morning rant.

Concerts

For those of you who don’t know, I’m a huge concert fan. I’ll pretty much go anywhere within a day’s drive to see a good show. As such, I’m ecstatic about the tickets I just bought to No Doubt. It’s only the first of many concerts lined up for this summer…talk about a great summer vacation!! Less exciting, but exciting nonetheless, I’m taking my sister to Britney Spears in the near future. She’s not my first choice of singers to listen to, but a good show is worth it. And I hear she puts on a good show. I’m also looking forward to seeing my sister’s reaction – somehow that child has failed to ever attend a concert in her almost 22 years of life. It’s such a shame. Or maybe I’m just a concert whore? lol

Role Models

I absolutely LOVE the movie Role Models with Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott. Talk about comedy at its finest. It’s out on DVD today and I want it! Maybe I’ll have to reward myself for my hard work at school…buying presents for yourself is always nice!
