The NFL recently announced that Dante Stallworth has been suspended indefinitely. Ok, he drove drunk and killed someone, fair enough.
Or is it?
The NFL hasn’t done the same for Michael Vick, who just finished a 23-month jail sentence for torturing and ruthlessly killing dogs in his dog-fighting ring. Just for the record, I don’t condone either of these actions. Drunk driving is truly a shame, and each year about 37% of all driving fatalities come from alcohol-related accidents. I think what Mr. Stallworth did is awful, but I also believe people make mistakes. Michael Vick on the other hand systematically tortured and heinously killed numerous animals. No, animals are not more important than people, but he did that on purpose.
Frankly, I don’t see how it’s fair for the NFL to suspend Stallworth indefinitely while letting Vick play (well, assuming he can get signed. He is on the old side, and he hasn’t trained in 2 years. But I digress.) Both should receive the same punishment. Suspend both or let both of them play. End of story.
It’s definitely shaping up to be a big year in the NFL. I can’t wait to see what happens to Plaxico Burress….
