11 Year Old with a Bo Staff

When I hear “bo staff” I can’t help but think of Napoleon Dynamite saying “Nunchaku skills… bowhunting skills… computer hacking skills… Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills!” and “Yeah, there’s like a butt-load of gangs at this school. This one gang kept wanting me to join ’cause I’m pretty good with a bo staff.”

But anyway, that has nothing to do with my topic…Watch this kid OWN with a bo staff. He’s 11, and he will fuck you up! Awesome mullet + intense beast-like rage = my personal hero.

Sex

I turned off my TV and for a short moment there was complete silence. Then I heard my neighbors having very loud sex. I’m not sure which neighbors, but somewhere in the building two people seem very happy. Good for them. Now let me get to sleep :)

Brandon

This video won’t be up long, but damn it’s AMAZING. first and foremost, Fox should let these things stay up, but whatever, we need to recognize the skills (and the amazing rippedness) that is Brandon on the current season of So You Think You Can Dance. I’ve loved this guy since he almost made the top 20 last season. And I might actually call into the show tonight. Wow. This is so uncharacteristic of me. But anyway, enough rambling. Enjoy the show!

Comes The Dawn

After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning
And company doesn’t mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts
And presents aren’t promises,
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child,
And you learn to build all your roads on today,
Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans,
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure…
That you really are strong,
And you really do have worth.
And you learn and learn…
With every goodbye you learn.

Pictures

Are soooooo close! I just got my computer back (hallelujah!) and have uploaded all my pics to it. There are like 940 of them. From 3 weeks! Yikes. They’re all rotated so they’re right-side-up. And they’re sorted by city. This process has taken me an hour and a half. Ugh I want to post pics, but I’m soooo tired! Tomorrow people. Tomorrow :)

Prepare yourselves…

Jon Stewart vs. Idiocracy

Courtesy of Mario, I just had the privilege of watching Jon Stewart settle once and for all the debate of Barack Obama’s birth. There really are few things that make me as happy as when Jon Stewart comes on comedically points out other reporters’ stupidity. The man has a gift, and this segment is entertaining as hell.

Enjoy!

Best Buy Blows

The title of this post pretty much sums up my current feelings toward this company. I know J is planning to buy a new, large television in the very near future, but I truly hope that he can find it somewhere else. They don’t deserve any more of our dollars.

Long story short, one of the hinges on my laptop was broken. It was incredibly irritating, but still I could not part with my computer for any length of time while it got repaired. Knowing I was going on a 3-week trip, I figured that would by my only opportunity to get this shiz fixed. For a variety of reasons, I was unable to deal with this myself. My dad is retired and loves doing projects to keep himself busy during the day. And by “projects” I have taken this to mean doing stuff for his lovely daughter :)

Search and Rescue: Mexican Edition

A couple of weekends ago some friends and I decided to take a mini road trip to San Diego for a 311 concert. Rather than just going down for the day, we decided to make a weekend trip out of it. Despite some obstacles along the way (like not having a place to stay until the day before hand, among other things!), once we got on the road everything was ok.

We got a really late start, so got in pretty late on Friday. We went straight to the Sandbar to help Sandy properly celebrate her birthday. The next day, we went on a pub crawl in PB to continue the celebration. Just as we were walking to the first stop, Brett got a call from another friend of ours. She was frantic, but since I wasn’t on the phone I had no idea why.

Turns out her mom went down into the deep cuts of Mexico to visit some family, and forgot her Green Card. Not thinking this was a big deal, she had her daughter – my friend – fax a copy down to her. The Mexican travel authorities said this was not sufficient. So Meli went to the airport where her mom would be arriving, and gave them the Green Card to scan into the system. But again, the airline in Mexico said this was not sufficient either. Next idea: just sneak over the border. Apparently that family has been doing it for years lol. But that wasn’t an option either. After all, she can’t be her risking her legal status by doing something stupid like that.

Ongoing Observations

I have the craziest journey back home. It involves 3 flights, thus 2 layovers. Of course, one is 10 hours and the other is 7. I don’t know what I was thinking when I booked this, except maybe “who cares! I’m going to Spain!”

And now that I’m in the middle of a 30-some odd hour journey from Spain to the US, I’m bored. Solution: blog about the things I see lol
