To play or retire?

I’ve come to the conclusion that Brett Favre will never retire. Ever.

Technically he’s done it twice now. Once in 2008 from the Packers, then again in 2009 from the Jets. Even after seeing him “unretire” in ’08 and sign with the Jets, I truly believed this second retirement was for good. After all, he’s old and although he did OK this year, he was falling apart by the end of the season. Yes it saddens me to say this about my dear Mr. Favre, but sometimes you just need to know when to call it a day.

It seems this knowledge is something the man lacks. After re-retiring, and then just 3-weeks ago going on the record as saying he’s gonna stay retired, he’s back. As a Viking.

Yep, that’s right. Brett Favre is now the QB for the Minnesota Vikings.

I’ve heard people in favor of this and I’ve heard people opposed to this idea. I heard one person on the radio say that someone needs to give him a big hit and make him physically unable to play any more. While I think a physical assault is taking it a little too far, the man does have a point. It seems that NOTHING will get in the way of Brett playing, except maybe losing an arm or breaking his neck. Even that might not be enough. I’m sure he’ll still unretire again each year until he dies. At this rate, that seems more and more likely.

I’m going to have to watch this team closely. I do love Brett Favre, but I also hate watching people play when they’re well past their prime. Buddy, it’s time to move on. With his dedication and passion for the game, I’m sure he would make an excellent coach. Maybe he should consider giving that a try. Or just getting outside of Kiln, Mississippi for a vacation. If I lived in a place referred to as “the kill” I don’t think I’d ever retire either.

Whatever he ends up doing, he needs to pick something other than starting QB in the NFL.

Ha ha, poor guy must be in denial or something about the fact that he’s getting old. Uhmmm, did you happen to catch him on Shaq vs.–a new tv show? He looked hot as always ;)
