I got to see penguins recently. Sadly I didn’t get to play with them. All in all a fun experience, but I wish there had been some actual penguin play time. Here’s the story in photos:
I’m at the airport. It’s snowing outside. I chose one of the very few seats available next to a window so I could watch the flurries. The man seated next to me is wearing ski goggles. That’s right – we are INDOORS and the dude is wearing ski goggles.
This doesn’t require further commentary.
Ok so those super cute shoes I bought on Tuesday. The ones that were a half size too small but didn’t feel that tight. Yeah those. Those are going to be sold or given away.
I made the mistake of wearing these babies yesterday. It’s usually never fun breaking in a new pair of shoes, but add a busy day to that equation and you’re in for a mess. I worked 12 hours yesterday – recipe for a disaster. (more…)
I went to the mall a few days ago. It was a way overdue trip, as I had several things to return from almost a month ago. I also needed to have my ring fixed. I guess I was putting it off cuz I am busy/lazy, and 2 of the 3 stores I needed to go to aren’t located in the mall close to me. So on Tuesday I went to the closest place with all three stores.
As I’m walking in I remember that the shoe store has a weird policy. Worried, I looked at my receipt. Yep, 10 days to return an item. It’s been like 20. Fffffuuuuu. However, they will give you cash if you paid cash. I started plotting how I could get money back out of this transaction.
Stop #1: Shoe Store
VSP – Vision Service Plan. Aka the only eye insurance I’ve ever heard of. Despite the apparent monopoly (or my ignorance regarding their competitors), I love this company. LOVE it.
I had my annual eye exam a couple of weeks ago, which went more or less seamlessly. I should note that I’m like blind, for those of you who somehow missed that memo. Blind. Anyway, I called the doctor to schedule my appointment and was asked if I “had” to have Dr. N. Thinking she must have been too busy, I said no, I’ll take someone else. I just need to get in. So I was booked with Dr. C.
I arrived to the office to discover that Dr. C is the “low vision specialist”. Awesome. I’ve been switched from the regular eye doctor to the doctor for the blind. Definitely a blow to my ego, but I’ll get over it.
So I’m headed out to Chicago this weekend. I planned this trip about a month or so ago, and wasn’t really thinking about anything else. My friend is going to be out there during this one particular weekend, and I decided to go too. I booked my flights there and back so as to allow myself the most time for sightseeing with the least amount of time off work (1 day max), while still returning Sunday night in time to get some sleep and be up for work.
My flight home was scheduled to leave Chi-town at 6:30pm on Sunday February 7.
Maybe that doesn’t mean anything to you. Or maybe you’re aware that February 7 is Superbowl Sunday, and the Big Game starts at 5pm Illinois time. (more…)
