I recently ate at Panda Express, and noticed that my cup was kinda strange:

Is that supposed to be “I love chicken…YUM!!!” ? LOL
Leave it to Americanized fast-food Chinese to come up with something classy like this

On the 4th of July I had hoped to go out and do something. But due to a lot of factors, by the time I made this decision Petra was already in bed. I decided that rather than sit around the apartment by myself, I would hit up the streets of the Costa Brava and find some entertainment.
It didn´t take long.
I just wanted to sit somewhere and maybe have a drink while watching the people go by. However, I have a fear of going to a restaurant, particularly one in a foreign country, and sitting down at a table by myself. Not to mention that here you seat yourself at most restaurants, but not all of them. So I was definitely nervous about it, but decided I just had to conquer the insecurity and go out and do it.
I finally found an ok, non-intimidating looking restaurant and had a seat. I ordered a glass of wine and started watching the people. I realized I hadn´t picked the best of locations, but it would do. And oh were there lots of people to see!
Petra and I went to Paris for 4 days. I had a pretty good time, but I can assure you it was not my favorite city. I´m glad I was able to go there, see the sites, and experience all that Paris has to offer, but I don´t see myself ever feeling the need to go back. In light of this single lifetime journey to Paris, I will just write one single entry in my blog.
I´ve already written about the horrible entry we had into the city. Things got a bit better, but not much. I´m convinced the French truly do not like people who don´t speak French, nor do they enjoy tourists. I fell into both of those categories.
Petra and I were all set to head to Paris, or so we thought. I booked our flights there and back, set up our hotel, and despite arriving I to the cuttiest of the 3 Parisian airports, I found us an amazingly priced shuttle service. 36 euro roundtrip per person. I figured it was cheaper because it dropped us at the Arc di Triumf rather than our hotel. In all my planning, I neglected to get us to and from the airport in Spain. I guess I assumed we would take the bus into Girona? Either way our flight was early and that wasn’t an option.
We were pretty frantic the day before so we went to the library to book a shuttle. How expensive could that be?
Seeing as how I had a major crush on Harold from Top Chef season 1, of course I had to go to his restaurant while in NYC! This has been on my to do list for at least 2 years so you better believe I made reservations a month in advance. For anyone who wants to do the same, he’s on Open Table or you can just go through his website up to 29 days in advance.

I had the pleasure of visiting Williams-Sonoma this weekend and I’m absolutely in LOVE with all of the items there. Let’s start with the Sandwich Cookie Cake Pan. What’s not to like? You end up with 2 cakes with frosting in the middle…a cake sandwich. YUM.

Then there’s The Great Cupcake Pan. I know a few people that own this, but have never had the pleasure of feasting on the end result. Maybe I’ll just have to bake myself a giant cupcake cake?

I can’t just get cake pans; gotta do the brownies too!! The Chocolate Bar Brownie Pan:

It’s like a Hershey’s bar with individual brownies. I’m totally digging this! And the Gift Cakelet Pan…

Mini cakes. They look like little presents waiting for me to devour them. How can I resist? Especially when Williams-Sonoma makes my life 100x easier by selling the cake and brownie mixes right there!! I’ve never had a Sprinkles cupcake but I hear they’re quite fabulous. Williams-Sonoma carries a variety of flavors of mixes, including Red Velvet (my favorite), dark chocolate (yes please!), vanilla, lemon, and banana.
Can someone please put me out of my misery and present me with a cupcake? I’m dying after looking at all this!
I’ve decided to go on a quest. It will take a long time, but I plan to visit the restaurants of all of my favorite chefs from Top Chef. On the “to do” list so far:
You can’t start with any particular contestant without first mentioning Chef Tom Colicchio. He’s amazing and has every right to critique the chefs on the show. My life will not be complete until I eat at Craft. NY, LA, Dallas, Vegas, Connecticut…so many choices, clearly I have NO excuse to not go!
Ok on to the contestants I love:
I truly wish I was eating some of this right now! Deep fried banana + green tea ice cream + chocolate and caramel syrups. What’s not to love?!

It’s official. I have the greatest set of family and friends I could have ever asked for. This whole strep throat thing has been a huge pain in the ass. My adorable sister kept me entertained during the exam last night, and even volunteered to come over today to watch movies with me despite my contagious state. I only had to say no because I don’t want to expose my niece. My dad has made several trips over here to bring me food or medicine or gatorade or whatever else. My mom has been at my beck and call with expert medical advice (she is a trained professional afterall!), medicine, hugs, moral support, and today woke me up from my nap to bring me a pizza. What’s not to love? Then Mr. Zig came over with In n Out. I didn’t get a burger, but seriously how good does this look:

Not to mention the countless others who have kept me entertained online or sent me wishes for a speedy recovery. You guys all rock. And so do these fries I’m currently eating
