Woo Woo!

I don’t know what made me think of this today, but I truly love Bubb Rubb and Lil Sis. Anyone who incorporates WOO WOO into regular conversation is a special human being in my opinion.

“That’s only in the morning. You supposed to be up cooking breakfast for somebody and so that’s like an alarm clock” LOL! And the best part happens at 1:35. Almost hitting a parked car AND running a stop sign. Classic!

Germany or Florida

This is truly a great example of EPIC failure. Courtesy of FailBlog

This brings me to my next point: 9 out of 10 stupid/weird/crazy things you see in the news happens in either Germany or Florida. I used to love when Adam Carolla was on Loveline. He had this game called Germany or Florida. Basically he would share a news story and callers got on the line to guess where the story took place. I miss Adam Carolla’s presence on Loveline, but at least I still have my Germany or Florida :)

Farewell John Madden

Yet another loss to the NFL. John Madden just announced his retirement from broadcasting. I grew up listening to this guy and his commentary, and will really miss him. He’s good at what he does, and he provides a great source of entertainment at the same time.

In honor of Mr. Madden, here are some of the greatest things I’ve ever heard him say:

“The team with the most points at the end of the game usually wins”

“You can only make one play at a time”

“The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break”

“Anytime you have a game, you have to be ready to play”

“When you lose your best cornerback and your punt returner, I’d say that’s a double loss”

“Here’s a guy, that when he wears his contacts, he see’s better”

“If the referee throws a flag, and he doesn’t make a mistake, then that’s gonna be a penalty”

“Now see this guy has the biggest kankles I have ever seen”

I’ll miss you John!

Damon vs. Palin

This is an oldie, but it has come up in coversation several times this week so I felt the need to share. I love the authenticity Matt Damon shows in his shocked, appauled, horrified and just astounded words and facial expressions. It’s great.

Enjoy! And let’s follow McCain the next 3.75 years and see if she would have ended up President Palin!

Gay Elephant?

Yes, you read that correctly. According to a zoo in Poland, the 10-year old elephant they acquired prefers the company of male elephants to females. The article says he might not be gay since elephants don’t reach sexual maturity until age 14, but if this works anything like it does in people, the elephant probably already knows what he’s looking for!

I know it’s fairly common in animals, but the only other time I’ve seen homosexuality in animals this widely discussed was in the case of the gay penguins in China. I have to admit that story is way more entertaining though, given that 1. it involves penguins, which we all know I love and 2. these penguins tried to steal eggs from other couples so they could have babies! It’s precious.

Naked Pole Vaulting?

Romain Mesnil, a French pole vaulter, apparently is desperate for money. His Nike contract expired in 2008 and he’s looking for some sponsorship. Apparently as a way to draw attention to himself he decided to video tape himself running naked through the streets of Paris, holding a pole. Entertainment at its finest!

Also gotta love the serene music playing in the background. Classic!

Colbert Station?

I’m sure you’ve all heard of Colbert Nation. Well, now there might be a Colbert Space Station. That would totally kick ass!

NASA recently had a poll to name their newest space station. They listed 4 choices (Serenity, Legacy, Earthrise, or Venture), plus allowed people to write in their own choices. “Colbert” won by over 40,000 votes. As someone who is very pro-democratic process, I really hope NASA doesn’t back out and name it Serenity. After all, they did choose to include a write-in option.

And let’s face it, how awesome would it be to have a space station named after Stephen Colbert? (Yes, I voted for this option) :)

Teenage Pregnancy

Ah yes, Bristol Palin and her babby daddy have broken up. But really, is anyone surprised? It’s hard work raising a kid, and when you’re 18 it’s definitely a lot more difficult. It really is a shame that so many parts of the country actually still teach abstinence-only sex ed. Really, how are kids supposed to learn about birth control and general reproductive health issues if all they’re ever taught is “don’t do it until you’re married”. That’s definitely not helpful. I get that accidents happen, but so many of them could be avoided with a little education. No one ever got hurt by learning!

Anyway, that’s it for my Thursday morning rant.

The Legenday Favre

Brett Favre has officially retired (again). I’m kinda sad to see him go, but really it’s time. Maybe he’ll get a job as a coach or an announcer. That would be awesome. I’m glad he came back this past year so I could actually get it together and see him play live. What a game! I <3>
