I work with salary figures and other confidential information. Sometimes I print stuff that either I keep for a while then need to discard, or realize I just don’t need altogether. In these cases, I don’t want to recycle that stuff. So I started a shred pile. There’s one shredder in my building, 3 stories down. It’s in a room that’s basically the size of a coat closet on an isolated hallway. Needless to say, I don’t like going there much.
So I don’t.
This leaves me with an ever growing pile of stuff to shred. This pile recently became so massive that I decided it was time to ask my boss if I could buy a shredder. Simple enough, and he said yes. Score!
I was looking for something inexpensive but durable. Like would shred credit cards and an occasional staple. And at least 8-10 pages at a time. I sorted through our work catalog and settled on one – the Corporate Express CEBC12.
It arrived today, so I decided to open it and have a shredding party.
OMG SCORE. This machine is a BEAST! First and foremost, it shreds up to 12 pages at a time. It also does CDs and credit cards. It has a really awesome slide out drawer for all my shreddings (makes it super easy to empty!). Oh and it has 3 lights when its on: Ready, Overheating, Overloaded. So you know when you’re doing something wrong BEFORE you break the machine. YES! (This feature is particularly important for me)
Last but not least, this thing came with wheels. And these wheels have brakes. Like, let me roll my awesome shredder over to me, then brake it so it doesn’t roll away while in use. Who thinks of these things? Hahaha
I do realize that I just raved about a shredder for several paragraphs, but I don’t care. So far, this thing is totally rave-worthy!
