Lost In Translation

I was just in France now it’s after midnight and I’ve arrived back in Spain. Maybe I’m exhausted from my 4 very long days in Paris, or maybe it´s late and I’m tired, or maybe I have just lost my mind?, but I can no longer speak.

In Paris I got so confused. I started answering questions in Spanish. (In my defense though Petra did slip in some Italian). Now that I’m back in Spain where I more or less speak the language, at least well enough to get by, I find myself mute. Our driver met us at the terminal and I wanted to greet him. How is this done? Bonjour? Hello? Merci? No that’s not right. Several seconds later…Oh! The word I’m looking for is HOLA lol. Then I thanked him in French. I just got too overwhelmed so I sat in the back, silent, while P slept.

Just when I was getting my Spanish back I seem to have regressed to my infancy and can see things I want to respond to, but lack the language to communicate my thoughts. Rad.

Parlez Voux Anglais?

Petra and I went to Paris for 4 days. I had a pretty good time, but I can assure you it was not my favorite city. I´m glad I was able to go there, see the sites, and experience all that Paris has to offer, but I don´t see myself ever feeling the need to go back. In light of this single lifetime journey to Paris, I will just write one single entry in my blog.

I´ve already written about the horrible entry we had into the city. Things got a bit better, but not much. I´m convinced the French truly do not like people who don´t speak French, nor do they enjoy tourists. I fell into both of those categories.

Starting Out on THE Journey

Ok I’m super late to the game, but I’m going to start posting retroactive entries that chronicle the highlights (and low points) of my journey through the east coast and select parts of Europe. Hopefully I will catch up by the time I leave! Haha

Anyway these posts will mostly be from my phone and will more or less lack photos. I’ll try to add pictures as I can. Otherwise I will just edit from home.

Upcoming Travels

I was finally able to find some awesome deals, so this morning I booked my airfare for my upcoming Long Vacation! I’m going to New York for 4 days, then heading over to Barcelona for about 2 weeks. I’m going to take a side trip to Paris for maybe 3 days, but that has yet to be set in stone. I love adding stamps to my passport, so this will give me a couple of new ones.

I’m still not sure what I’m going to be doing after I graduate and I’m not fully confident that I’ll have a job secured before I leave, which really scares me. It’s totally out of character for me to do something this big without knowing where my life is going to take me in the next six months, but I figured how often do I get the opportunity to take 3 weeks off and just wander around new cities? I’m glad I’m finally letting loose and seizing the opportunity. It feels really good. I can’t wait for June!!
